Here we are at the Salle Pleyel, for an evening that promises to be unforgettable with Electro Deluxe, and Joel for the opening act.
The public came in droves and the hall was packed. 2500 spectators present for this very special concert because it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the formation of E2L. Concert initially scheduled for October 2021, but postponed due to the health situation.
8 p.m., Joel enters the scene.
A surprising discovery, the singer is reminiscent of Joe Cocker. The group only has 30 minutes to warm up the room. Mission accomplished with catchy titles that did not leave the public unmoved. Joel’s fans have been there. A short but intense first part with a singer that we will not forget.
JOEL, 18/03/2022 Salle Pleyel
Short intermission of 15 minutes, the time for the technicians to make way for the headliner of the evening.
8:45 p.m., the lights in the room go out and the stage gradually lights up: the brass desks, then the drums and so on.
The musicians settle down, and there are many of them, because the group is playing in Big Band configuration for this concert. The founding members: Thomas Faure (saxophone), Jérémie Coke (bass), Arnaud Renaville (drums), Gaël Cadoux (keyboards) arrive in turn.
The show is launched on the notes of the first title of the set list: Devil. The energy released by the singer and the musicians invades the room, which begins to sing and dance. The evening promises to be well-paced, and fans of soul funk jazz present this evening will not be disappointed, far from it!
As usual, James Copley (vocals) is in great shape. He doesn’t need to stimulate a room that’s completely won over to the Electro Deluxe cause. The smile of the singer, accompanied by his three choristers (Crystal Petit-Knight, Tanya Michelle Smith, Indy Eka) is contagious. Just look at the crowd present to realize it.
Without interruption, the group continues with Do Your Thang, taken from the latest album, Apollo, released in 2019. The public accompanies the group even more and the temperature rises in the room.
Followed by Sleepwalking and Let’s Go To Work, in an atmosphere that was just as overexcited as ever. After this fourth title, Thomas Faure takes the floor to thank the public for his presence, but also the musicians and more particularly the founding members for these twenty years spent with them.
The set list of this concert is an opportunity to travel through the history of the group. Certain titles will be an opportunity to see on stage artists who have appeared on the group’s albums: Ben L’oncle Soul on Where Is The Love, Nyr on Talking About Good Love, 20Syl (Hocus Pocus / C2C) on Smoke.
The show is coming to its end, it’s time to present all the musicians, singers and singers present for this anthology concert.
The lights go out but not for long, the group returns for two titles as an encore: Smoke and Crying.
James thanks the fans and the public for being present this evening at the Salle Pleyel, for this great concert, which was a very beautiful moment. The room empties and a few people are waiting for James, for a souvenir photo.

Nous voici à la Salle Pleyel, pour une soirée qui s’annonce inoubliable avec Electro Deluxe, et Joël pour la première partie.
Le public est venu en masse et la salle est comble. 2500 spectateurs présents pour ce concert très spécial car il fête les 20 ans de la formation de E2L. Concert initialement prévu en octobre 2021, mais reporté en raison de la situation sanitaire.
20 h, Joel entre en scène.
Une découverte surprenante, le chanteur fait penser à Joe Cocker. Le groupe n’a que 30 minutes pour chauffer la salle. Mission réussie avec des titres entraînants qui n’ont pas laissé le public insensible. Les fans de Joël se sont bien fait entendre. Une première partie courte, mais intense avec un chanteur que l’on n’oubliera pas.
Courte entracte de 15 minutes, le temps pour les techniciens de faire place à la tête d’affiche du soir.
20h45, les lumières de la salle s’éteignent et la scène s’éclaire progressivement : les pupitres des cuivres, puis la batterie et ainsi de suite.
Les musiciens s’installent, et ils sont nombreux, car le groupe joue en configuration Big Band pour ce concert. Les membres fondateurs : Thomas Faure (saxophone), Jérémie Coke (basse), Arnaud Renaville (batterie), Gaël Cadoux (claviers) arrivent à leur tour.
Le show est lancé sur les notes du premier titre de la set list : « Devil ». L’énergie que dégagent le chanteur et les musiciens envahit la salle qui se met à chanter et danser. La soirée s’annonce bien rythmée et les amateurs de jazz soul funk présents ce soir ne seront pas déçus, loin de là !
Comme à son habitude, James Copley (chant), est très en forme. Il n’a pas besoin de stimuler une salle complètement acquise à la cause de Electro Deluxe. Le sourire du chanteur, accompagné de ses trois choristes (Crystal Petit-Knight, Tanya Michelle Smith, Indy Eka) est contagieux. Il suffit de regarder la foule présente pour s’en rendre compte.
Sans interruption, le groupe enchaîne avec « Do Your Thang », extrait du dernier album, Apollo, sorti en 2019. Le public accompagne de plus belle le groupe et la température monte dans la salle.
Suivent « Sleepwalking » et « Let’s Go To Work », dans une ambiance toujours aussi survoltée. Après ce quatrième titre, Thomas Faure prend la parole pour remercier le public de sa présence, mais aussi les musiciens et plus particulièrement les membres fondateurs pour ces vingt années passées avec eux.
La set list de ce concert est l’occasion de voyager dans l’histoire du groupe. Certains titres seront l’occasion de voir sur scène des artistes qui ont figuré sur les albums du groupe : Ben L’oncle Soul sur « Where Is The Love », Nyr sur « Talking About Good Love », 20Syl (Hocus Pocus / C2C) sur « Smoke ».
Le show arrive à sa fin, c’est le moment de présenter l’ensemble des musiciens, chanteur et choristes présents pour ce concert d’anthologie.
Les lumières s’éteignent mais pas pour longtemps, le groupe fait son retour pour deux titres en rappel : « Smoke et Crying ».
James remercie les fans et le public d’être présent ce soir à la Salle Pleyel, pour ce super concert qui a été un très beau moment. La salle se vide et quelques personnes attendent James, pour une photo souvenir.
