Dear readers,
Here we are at the « Les Etoiles » theater in Paris, to go see Robert Jon and The Wreck with Cotton Belly’s as opening act.
An evening to the sound of Blues, Roots and Southern Rock
The fans and the public are there, the room fills up very quickly. Everyone is ready to welcome our dear Cotton Belly’s on stage. They’re back in Paris after their previous venue at Le Petit Bain, some time ago.
The band arrives on stage, in good shape and launches it’s first song, which make the public dance.
We still find their electro-acoustic Blues Roots, which has allowed the group to make its reputation over time.
Cotton Belly’s is one of the recognized groups in the blues, thanks to very good albums and EPs. To date, their last opus was released in year 2019. It’ name : « Missi ». Listen to it.
The tracks follow one another: « My Friend », « Jaïs », « Walk », … Yann, the lead of the band, plays his harmonica, which is heard on « Never Sing Alone », « Rainy Road », « Shy Boy », and some other tracks. The audience is having a great time. Christophe Etienne, Mick Ravassat and Cyrille Catois, the other members of the band are playing very well, for the delight of the audience massed in the pit.
The concert ends with the title « Family Chains » We close our eyes and imagine ourselves in Louisiana dancing in a bar. Forty minutes of pure happiness for the public. The group leaves the stage under the applause of the whole room. A human warmth that warms our little hearts.

On stage, technicians are busy setting up for Robert Jon & The Wreck
I discover this band for the first time at the occasion of their return on a French stage for the presentation of their latest album « Shine a light on me brother »
Robert Jon and his musicians come to us from California and offer southern rock. The group enters the scene and the audience cheers Jon, who begins the first track: « The devil is my only friend ». The heat rises quickly in the room. Despite a fairly high volume we still hear the shouts of the public, it’s promising.
The stage is not very large, but that does not prevent the group from moving in all directions and making frenzied riffs and duets.
In the middle of the set, two tracks from the last album will be played (to give a preview and the desire to buy it ): « Ain’t no young love song » and « Shine a light on me brother ». I think the public would have liked to discover a little more, but we must keep the mystery 😉
Robert excels at vocals, and Henry James impresses with his riffs, as good as our dear Slash. Magic fingers on the guitar.
On the track « Don’t let me go » Robert joins Henry for a crazy duet. Lots of talent in this group.
The heat is getting stronger and stronger in the room. Robert will play the latest titles, including « Cold Night » without his hat.
The concert ends with shouts, applause and whistles from the audience, whom the group thanks for coming.
I leave the room, to go home, after two great Rock, Blues, Country and Roots concerts.

Nous voici au théâtre « Les Etoiles » à Paris, pour aller voir Robert Jon and The Wreck avec en première partie les Cotton Belly’s.
Une soirée au son du Blues, du Roots et du Rock sudiste
Les fans et le public ont répondu présent, la salle se remplit très vite. Tout le monde se place pour accueillir sur scène nos chers Cotton Belly’s, de retour à Paris après leur précédent passage au Petit Bain, il y a quelques temps déjà.
Le groupe arrive sur scène, bien en forme et lance des titres bien roots, qui font danser le public.
Nous retrouvons toujours leur Blues Roots électro-acoustique, qui a permis au groupe de faire sa renommée au fil du temps
Cotton Belly’s fait partie des groupes reconnus dans le monde de blues, grâce à de très bons albums et EP. A ce jour leur dernier opus est sorti en 2019, sous le nom de Missi. À écouter.
Les titres s’enchaînent : « My Friend », « Jaïs », « Walk »,…Yann, la tête pensante du groupe, sort son harmonica, qui se fait entendre sur « Never Sing Alone », « Rainy Road », « Shy Boy », et d’autres titres. Le public passe un très bon moment. Christophe Etienne, Mick Ravassat et Cyrille Catois, les autres membres du groupe se lâchent pour le plus grand plaisir du public massé dans la fosse.
Le concert se termine avec le titre « Family Chains ». On ferme les yeux et on s’imagine en Louisiane à danser dans un bar. Quarante minutes de pur bonheur pour le public. Le groupe quitte la scène sous les applaudissements de toute la salle. Une chaleur humaine qui réchauffe nos petits cœurs.

Sur la scène, les techniciens s’affairent pour la mise en place de Robert Jon & The Wreck
Je découvre ce groupe pour la première fois à l’occasion de son retour sur une scène française pour la présentation de son dernier album « Shine a light on me brother »
Robert Jon et ses musiciens nous viennent de Californie et proposent du rock sudiste. Le groupe entre en scène et le public acclame Jon, qui commence le premier titre : « The devil is my only friend ». La chaleur monte rapidement dans la salle. Malgré un volume assez élevé on entend tout de même les cris du public, ça promet.
La scène du théâtre n’est pas très grande, mais cela n’empêche pas le groupe de bouger dans tous les sens et de faire riffs et duos endiablés.
En milieu de set, deux titres du dernier album seront joués (pour donner un aperçu et l’envie de l’acheter) : « Ain’t no young love song » et « Shine a light on me brother ». Je pense que le public aurait aimé en découvrir un peu plus, mais faut garder le mystère 😉
Robert excelle au chant, et Henry James impressionne avec ses riffs, aussi bon que notre cher Slash. Des doigts magiques à la guitare.
Sur le titre « Don’t let me go » Robert se joint à Henry pour un duo de fou. Beaucoup de talent dans ce groupe.

Le concert se termine sous les cris, applaudissements et sifflets du public, que le groupe remercie de sa venue.
Je quitte la salle, pour rentrer à la maison, après deux supers concerts Rock, Blues, Country et Roots.
